After you get the permit

🚗 Finish the course + drive

Complete the rest of the Aceable classroom hours and start your behind-the-wheel driving with your parent-instructor. Log every hour — you'll need it.

⏳ The 6-month + 30-hour rule

You must hold the permit at least 6 months and log 30 hours supervised driving (10 at night) with a licensed adult 21+.

🎂 Your timing is great

If you get the permit by early summer, the 6-month clock can finish around your Sept 2 window next year — lining you up for the provisional license at 16.

🎬 Before the road test

Texas makes you watch the free Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) video shortly before your driving test for the actual license (not needed for the permit).
